The RA2YR Clean Up program can be downloaded from the downloads
page.
This program will clean up your Red Alert 2 folder by removing files that are not part of the original installation or a subsequent patch.
It is very useful for the purposes of uninstalling 'loose-mods',
clearing residual mod files from a failed auto-deactivation,
and generally keeping your Red Alert 2 folder clean and tidy
so that you can run other mods without problems.
You have several options regarding which files are to be removed:
0. Backup files removed by clean up.
By default, all files removed by the clean up process are permanently deleted. If you select this option, all files removed by the clean up process will be stored in a backup folder inside your Red Alert 2 folder.
1. Remove modification files.
This is the most common option for cleaning up your Red Alert 2 folder and the only* option enabled by default. It removes any files that could potentially cause the game to be modified. Any mods you have installed will be removed. Mod launcher executables are not removed as they do not affect Red Alert 2 or Yuri's Revenge.
Certain modification files are not removed by this option. Such files can be removed by the other options described below. Note that this option will remove all <.pcx> files except those described in option 8.
The following remove options will only appear if you actually have the components installed.
2. Remove YR Terrain Expansion.
The YR Terrain Expansion developed by Blade and MooMan. The file <expandmd06.mix> is not removed by 'remove modification files' nor are the terrain control ini files used by mappers. This option will remove these files.
3a. Remove official RA2 maps.
The official RA2 map packs. Official RA2 maps include files with extension <.mmx>. The <.mmx> files that are present as part of an original installation or patch will not be removed.
3b. Remove official YR maps.
The official YR map packs. Official YR maps include files with extension <.yro>.
3c. Remove custom maps.
Custom maps include files with extension <.map>, <.mpr> and <.yrm>.
3d. Remove Assault map packs.
The map packs for the Assault game mode developed by CannisRabidus and DeeZire. This program will support up to the first 10 of these map packs. If further map packs are present in your Red Alert 2 folder they will be removed if 'remove modification files' is checked.
4. Remove saved games.
Any games you have saved whilst playing Red Alert 2 or Yuri's Revenge will be removed. This includes cooperative saved games.
5. Deactivate custom YR playlist.
If you have created a custom playlist for Yuri's Revenge using the YR Playlist Modifier, this option will remove the file that enables it. The Playlist Modifier itself is not removed and can be run again.
This option will not remove additional soundtrack files (see option 6).
6. Remove additional soundtracks.
The YR Playlist Modifier makes use of extra soundtrack files that you provide. This option will remove those extra files. See option 5 for more information.
7. Remove residual <.wav> files.
Loose <.wav> files are often used to replace existing or provide new audio tracks. Such files are sometimes left behind by a mod, resulting in undesirable modifications to the in-game playlist. Unless you have provided your own <.wav> files for inclusion by the YR Playlist Modifier, you should remove any residual <.wav> files.
Apart from option 1, this is the only other option enabled by default.
8. Remove screenshots.
When you use the RA2/YR in-game screenshot function, you create an image file named <SCRN####.PCX> in your Red Alert 2 folder. This option will remove all such <.pcx> files. Note that 'remove modification files' (see option 1) will remove any <.pcx> file that is not named <SCRN####.PCX>.
You can use any combination of the above removal options.
Selecting all options will restore Red Alert 2 & Yuri's Revenge to their original settings (excepting personal configuration options such as WOL account information and key binds).
Other miscellaneous files in your Red Alert 2 folder (Example: <.zip> files) are not removed by this program.
